Running Club will be cancelled next Monday March 25th due to Bingo for Books (4-6:30pm). Please note that the last day to register for the Howard team for the Martian Marathon is April 10th.
We are still in need of new and gently used book donations for Bingo for Books. Please send donations to the office. Pizza will be served at the event.
On Tuesday March 26th from 6-8pm we will have a Rollerskating Night at the Lincoln Park Skate Center. Admission and skate rental will be free for Howard students. Parents and siblings not attending Howard may also attend and skate with free admission but will be charged the $4 skate rental fee. Concessions will be open and cost extra.
Good morning Howard families! We have some reminders for this week:
1. Bingo for Books is on Monday 25th at 4pm in the cafeteria. A note was sent home last week. The price is $5 per person, which includes pizza, refreshments, and bingo . We would appreciate if you could send new or gently used books to the office along with the number of people attending so we can plan accordingly.
2. PTA Meeting on Wednesday March 20th at 2:45pm
3. This is the last week to purchase spirit wear. There are order forms located in the office. We are also selling water bottles and lanyards for $5 each. If interested contact Senada Nasser @ 313-737-6537
Beginning tomorrow, Running Club will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays.
If your child is participating in the Martian Marathon, please note that today is the final day to register at the reduced rate. After today the registration fee will be $27.
Due to other activities scheduled in the building, the training days for Running Club have been changed. Running Club will now take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:45-4:30. This schedule will begin this week. Rules and procedures will remain the same, only the days have changed. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Anyone who wants to participate in the Martian Marathon will have until Sunday to register for the discounted rate of $20. After Sunday the registration fee will be $27.
Parents, please remind your students that everyone is expected to behave responsibly during running club. Any behavior issues in running club will result in your child being asked to leave and unable to return to participate. Please make sure that all running club participants are picked up by 4:30 pm.
Due to high demand for ordering spirit wear we will be submitting another order . There are forms available in the office. Orders are due by March 22, 2019 and checks are payable to Promozing.
Running Club begins tomorrow! If your child has turned in his/her permission slip, they are approved to join. We are unable to accept any new permission slips.
In order to maximize training time, please send your child to school in their running clothes and shoes. When weather permits, we will be training on the outside track behind the school. Please make sure your child is wearing weather-appropriate clothing.
We will be training every Tuesday and Thursday from March 5 until April 11 from 3:45-4:30pm. The Martian Marathon will take place on April 13. We will distribute directions for marathon registration tomorrow.

Yesterday we had our student council inauguration. We want to congratulate every student that will serve on student council, as well as all students that ran for student council.
The PTA provided refreshments and gifts to the new student council members. Thank you to our student council director Mrs. Szalai and our principal Mrs. Lazar who organized this important event.
The Book Fair at Howard will be next week, February 25th-March 1st. We are looking for volunteers for all days. We will be setting up Monday morning from 9-12. Tuesday and Wednesday will be preview days for students to browse and make wishlists, and Thursday and Friday will be days for students or parents to purchase books.
