Snow School is kicking off March is Reading month on March 1 (next Friday) with a Rise and Read event. Parents are encouraged to arrive with their child at 8:15 a.m. that morning and bring a blanket and a book to read inside the building before class starts. Look for more details on the blogs about all the fun activities planned for the month!
Join Snow PTA for a FREE showing of “The Good Dinosaur” on Wednesday (Feb. 27) in the gym. Popcorn and water will be for sale. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The movie starts at 6 p.m., but stop by early to check out the last night of our book fair, open in the library from 5 to 6 p.m.
Bring a blanket and come enjoy the show!
Snow School is asking for families to donate gently used books for a book sale the school plans to hold in March. Money raised from the sale will help pay for another purified water fountain for Snow. (The district is providing one that will go near the cafeteria and includes a bottle filling station.)
During February, books can be dropped outside Mrs. Bush’s office.
Book sales will be held on Wednesdays – March 13, 20 and 27. Books will be 50 cents each.
Volunteers are needed to help run the Scholastic Book Fair next week. If you are able to help for a few hours, please consider signing up! The book fair will run all day Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday morning, and Wednesday evening just before movie night. Cleanup will be on Thursday morning.
Just a reminder the Snow PTA is holding a special PTA meeting on Wednesday (Feb. 20) at 6 p.m. We need to decide spending requests like an additional filtered water fountain, special education projects and more. Please plan to join us in the media center.
Snow Elementary has three students who received district honors in the annual PTA Reflections contest. They include:
- Leah Kumm, Visual Arts: “Firefighters at Work” 1st place district and state qualifier
- Zeinab Bazzi, Visual Arts: “Moms are heroes” Honorable Mention district level
- Bayan Khashafa, Visual Arts: “My Hero” 3rd place tie district, state qualifier
A district awards ceremony will be scheduled in the spring. State results should be in by March. The art work will be displayed at the annual Founders Day Dinner on Feb. 22. Congratulations to all of our students and thanks to all who participated!
Just a reminder that our Box Tops competition ends on Feb. 14. The class with the most points will get a pizza party! The class gets a point for every Box Top, and they bonus points if the Box Tops are already trimmed and in bags of 50. (That’s how we submit them to the company.) Good luck to the classes, and thanks to our parents for helping with this fundraiser.
Snow School is asking families to participate in a Leader in Me activity. Please go through book shelves at home to donate any kid books that your family is ready to recycle. This creates a Win-Win (Habit 4) because we will be Synergizing (working together is better- Habit 6) by organizing and revisiting books that may have been forgotten and new families will be able to enjoy donated books for a low price.
Book sales will be Wednesdays: March 13th, 20th and 27th.
Books will be 50 cents each.
The money collected will go to purchase a second water purifier for Snow School.
Please drop off donated books outside Mrs. Bush’s office anytime in February.
Snow PTA has scheduled a special meeting for Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. We need members to come out and give input on spending requests from the school including an additional filtered water fountain, special education projects, and more. We did not have the required eight members at our last meeting to approve spending and, because of some time constraints, do not want to wait until March to move forward. Please plan to join us for this meeting and give your input!
Just a reminder that the February Snow PTA meeting will be on Tuesday (Feb. 5) at 6 p.m. We look forward to seeing you all in the media center! Cub Scout parents, feel free to join us while your children are meeting.
